Hello, I’m Gavin Scott. I first moved to Prestatyn as a teenager when my parents moved here in 1985. I attended Prestatyn high school and left, aged 18, to go to university. Since then I met my wife in Rhyl and we have lived in Anglesey , Dublin and over in Lancashire.
When our first child was old enough to attend school though, my wife and I decided to move back to Prestatyn, and I now have three wonderful children, all of whom attended Ysgol Y Llys and now Ysgol Glan Clwyd.
This area is more than just a family home for us and in 2005 I established a business in Rhyl, which I still own and run, and which now employs 10 people. Creating a business here and contributing to the local economy and wealth have always been important principles to me in my business life.
As the proprietor of a working local business I am well used to managing things efficiently, creating security for my staff and value for money for my customers. I believe this experience and discipline gives me the skills needed to question whether our Local Government is operating effectively and delivering value to the residents in the communities it serves, and to examine important issues like the impact of Brexit on life in our area.
Personally and socially I am on the Prestatyn Cricket Club Committee and in fact chair the Business Sub-Committee. I love visual arts and am also a major sponsor of a venture called “Love From The Artist”, a not-for-profit social enterprise which has worked with schools in Flintshire and with visual arts and artists across our area.
